They asked what the sculpture A Distant Place reminded me of and I said a far away place and they all laughed and I felt like I was on another planet. I don’t care what percent corn I am, I still don’t like practical jokes. My fourth personality said it was no longer itself. For years, I thought voices were whispering around me, but then I realized it was the thighs of my corduroys brushing together as I walked.

I started to explain my changing opinion by saying I had a mutable personality, but they silenced me right away. Nobody was sure if we were having an experience or only an “experience experience.” You need to walk a mile in that bird’s shoes.
